Frövi, Balingsta

Size: 1.50 m x 1.22 m

The original inscription:
Igulbjörn och Fastlög --- sten denna efter Anund. Gud hjälpe anden hans.

The inscription in English:
Igulbjörn and Fastlög --- this stone in memory of Anund. May God help his soul.

Kalle Runemaster
The ornamentation as well as the runes are mirrored.

There are three S-runes which are all facing the right way.

The second last rune (above the tail) has a whole brnach. The word "hjälpe" (eng. may help) was misspelled: hialbi/hibi.

Those mistakes were probably caused by Erik being distracted by the fact that the inscription would not fit inside the ornamentation. I cannot understand why he didn't sketch his runes.

Below, you can see an article in Swedish on U 857, taken from the book Upplands Runskrifter.
